Developing Young Athletes Network Podcast

Jan 14, 2019

Welcome everyone to Network Nation. I am excited to speak with our guest today because he has seen the soccer field from several angles. As a young soccer player, he grew up in Maryland and graduated from Glenelg High School where he was a 1992 All-Met Boys’ Soccer Goalkeeper. He attended the University of Maryland and during his time in Maryland he was a four-year starter and an All ACC section as a sophomore and led the Atlantic Conference Coast Conference as a senior. After graduating with a degree in biology, he had a professional career throughout Europe-playing in Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands as well as several teams for the MLS-Major League Soccer- in the US. In 2002 he was named the Premier League of Ireland Goalkeeper of the Year.

Our guest has also seen the soccer field from the sidelines. In 1997 he returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach. During his tenure with the Terps, he helped led them to the ACC regular-season title in 2005 and in 2008 its first NCAA title since 1968. He was also a part of the US U-20 Men’s National Team coaching staff during the 2013 Championship and the USA’s trip to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. Currently, he is the head men’s soccer coach at  Army West Point. The Black Knights during his tenure have had some of their most successful seasons.
