Developing Young Athletes Network Podcast

Dec 23, 2018

Today we bring you a guest who is right for the winter season. Our guest today started on his path by taking the proverbial phrase when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. After NOT finding his name on the team basketball roster in high school, he found solace in a small pond that taught him the power of skating and the love of hockey.

His love for hockey continued as a player and as a coach. For over twenty-five years he has been committed to developing student-athletes on and off the rink. As the Head Hockey Coach of the Spooner Boys High School and Wausau East High school - his teams combined had over 200 wins. During his twenty years coaching boys, his teams set school records, was a State Academic Champion by the Wisconsin High School Hockey Association, and he was honored twice as Coach of the Year, along with being named the Bob Johnson Memorial Coach of the Year in 2006. He has also been the past President of the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association, USA Hockey Development Coach, retired teacher, writer and blogger.

After a brief retirement from coaching the love of the game called him back- but this time to coaching girls hockey instead of boys. Currently, he is the Head Girls Hockey Coach of the Wisconsin Valley Union.
