Developing Young Athletes Network Podcast

Feb 18, 2019

Hello everyone and welcome back to the DYA Network. I am excited to present to you our guests for the show because they are visionary leaders-- both literally and figuratively in the sports arena. Our first guest is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and has over thirty years of extensive experience in primary eye care and pre-and post care for patients undergoing specialized treatment and surgery. As a former teacher and father of three, he has cultivated a large pediatric patient relationship. Having been trained in sports vision and vision therapy through the Baltimore Academy of Behavioral Optometry (BABO), he integrates his appreciation for sports, learning, and his desire to see children succeed. He is a charter member of Lakeville Rotary, the Paul Harris Fellowship, and the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce. He and his Wife Patti have also received the Business Persons of the Year award from the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Lakeville Community Corp for fifteen years and was instrumental in the building of the Ames Hockey Arena in Lakeville.

Our second guest is a graduate of Lakeville High school where she was a four-year Women’s Varsity hockey player--with two state high school hockey tournament appearances. In her senior year, she was the first recipient of the Herb Brooks Award. She went on to play Division 1 Women’s ice hockey at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York graduating in 2008. In 2012 she graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry; after graduating her professional interests include primary eye care, disease detection, and pre- and post-operative surgical eye care. A published author, our second guest, was voted the 2016 “Young Optometrist of the Year” by the Minnesota Optometric Association. Currently, she serves as the director of The Vision Performance Center at McDonald Eye Care working with athletes on their sports specific visual game.
